  • Essay / Which makes me, me - 889

I generally consider myself a disorganized person. I think it's an innate trait in me. For as long as I can remember, I have always been disorganized. But throughout my life, I have developed ways to cope, especially after having negative experiences. So what is the main factor that made me a disorganized person? I firmly believe that it is a combination of nature and nurture, but if I had to pick one, I would have to say that the genes that come from my father have a big impact on this trait. My father is also a disorganized person. . I'm a lot like him in that respect. On the other hand, my mother is extremely organized. This is someone who tries to keep everything as organized as possible. Obviously, saying that one of my parents also exhibits this trait is not enough evidence to support this theory, but there is more. The most important reason I believe nature is the main factor is my brother. He is four years younger than me and, just like my mother, he is one of the most organized people I have seen in my life. He's my absolute opposite. But the fact is that we grew up in the same house, with the same parents. Most of the time we even shared the same room. And our parents' behavior towards us was almost identical. Since I was constantly interacting with my brother, one would think that my behavior or his behavior should have been changed in some way. But that's not the case. Of course, there might be some minor changes that I haven't been able to observe but generally speaking, we have always been completely different in terms of organization. This is the main reason why I believe heredity is the dominant factor. The other reason is my parents' behavior towards us. I read some theories middle of paper......determine our faith. But they can create a predisposition to a trait that triggers something in the environment. For example, a child may have a genetic tendency toward shyness. And if confronted with a dominating teacher, the child may become even more withdrawn. In my personal case, my genetic tendency was towards disorganization, a consequence of genes that came from my father. And I believe this tendency was dominant enough that even my parents' well-intentioned efforts to channel me into the organization didn't work. Maybe it even backfired on me because of my teenage emotions and parent-child conflicts. So, in a way, the same environmental factors that worked positively for my brother didn't work for me. And this leads me to believe that nature played the most important role on this trait. The environment could only shape him to a certain extent.
