Haiti has experienced many difficulties since its decolonization from France. It started slowly, using his natural resources to try to resurrect himself. In the end, all they did was run into another economic deficit and find themselves with few resources. As living conditions in Haiti deteriorated, their education, economy and health care suffered, but that was only the beginning. In 2010, Haiti experienced a catastrophic earthquake, as Haiti was already in debt and did not have the money to help its citizens regroup after the earthquake. Many countries reached out and tried to help Haiti, but little could be done due to the country's vast deterioration. The money given to Haiti helped greatly in the short term, but they quickly exhausted the resources given to them and were left to fend for themselves again. This led the country into further decline, and because of the earthquake Haiti's infrastructure was destroyed, the average percentage of improved sanitation facilities in use was seventeen percent.
