“How is a Street Prostitute Like a Department Store Santa” by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner, Super Freakonomics, reflects the idea that through For centuries, women have been treated unfairly in life. Many countries continue to treat women with disrespect and often push them to engage in inhumane activities. “Young Cameroonian women have their breasts “ironed” – beaten or massaged with a wooden pestle or heated coconut shells – to make them less sexually tempting” (Levitt and Dubner, 2009, p. 20). The chapter goes on to explain how women in the United States are treated unfairly in a different way. In the United States, women receive lower wages than men in almost all sectors (public and private), with the exception of the prostitution sector. The reason prostitution is becoming so lucrative is because prostitution is illegal in most parts of the country. the country and follows the laws of supply and demand. “When you lock in a supplier, a shortage is created that inevitably drives up prices and encourages more suppliers to enter the market” (Levitt and Dubner, 2009, p. 24). By making prostitution illegal, those who engage in the prostitution trade and remain on the streets can obtain generous compensation, because sex is a natural desire and arguably a need for humans, with high demand, but a limited offer. As a result, the price of sex increases, allowing those engaging in prostitution to receive higher financial compensation. Levitt and Dubner also touched on the topic of oral and anal sex, price discrimination, and how prostitution and premarital sex can be seen as substitutes for each other, as well as others engaging in the medium of paper. ......marketing plan to be produced.ReferencesBandyk, M.
