During Halloween, nurses are always shown wearing very revealing clothing that exposes their bodies. The media then exaggerated their profession, calling it very sexual. According to Terry Ferns and Irena Chojnacka, “In reading the newspaper articles identified, what is striking is the consistent portrayal of nurses as a sexually available stereotype. » (p. 1029). Ferns and Chojnacka recalled research from articles that identified terms such as naughty, sexy, perverted and sassy as characteristics of nurses. I think nurses are indeed sexy in the sense that intelligence is attractive, but their genius is not portrayed as a gender stereotype. I think nurses should be recognized more as intelligent than sexual. Because nurses are seen as provocative, men are heavily excluded and harassed when entering the nursing field. The latest view of nurses is that they are gentle and caring, which alienates men from society's view of professional nurses.
