IntroductionIn this report, the industry context will be analyzed using three contrasting hotel companies. Contrasting hospitality ventures will be Wivenhoe House as a boutique hotel, Milsom's, which describes itself as a 'casual bar/brewery and hotel' (Milsoms, nd) and the Novotel near Tower Bridge. The management structure will be compared in each of these three companies and the personnel deployment and operational characteristics will also be discussed. The products and services of the three companies will be critically evaluated and recommendations will also be made. Finally, a customer satisfaction system will be chosen for each company and will be discussed to see if the system helps the company meet changing customer needs. Management Structure A management structure, also known as an organizational structure, is a way of showing hierarchical arrangement. of a company and the functioning of the company chain of command. Large organizations have many levels of hierarchy while flat management structures have few levels of hierarchy. Additionally, in a flat management structure, the span of control (the number of people reporting to a single person) is wide, meaning tasks must be distributed. This can be seen as a disadvantage because if many people report to a single manager, it can be more difficult for them to maintain control, which can have a detrimental effect on the business and the customer.
