    If you are a Christian deeply rooted in your faith, when something negative happens to you, one of the first things you do is turn to your spiritual advisor for guidance. The guidance offered by your spiritual advisor will help you navigate this difficult time of physiological, physical, and spiritual damage. Priests and parishioners are both harmed by sexual abuse scandals in the Catholic Church. Often the media focuses on what happens to priests at the end of their trial. However, an equally important consideration is what happens to mistreated parishioners. Where do they go for help and how do they heal? The media helps influence how we react to different situations. When cases of sexual abuse increased, the media mainly focused on the consequences of the attacker. The media rarely seemed to focus on how victims of violence could be helped to overcome all aspects of their trauma after going through such an ordeal. The question arises whether a person strong in his faith will lose his faith after being attacked by me. a church leader? It is difficult for people to maintain their faith when their own counselor has mistreated and deceived them. The healing process can be painful and long for them. However, if they cling to God's promises of healing and restoration, their faith will be put to good use and they will be healed. As it is said in the book of Psalms: “For his wrath endureth but for a moment, but his favor endureth for a lifetime; weeping may last for a night, but joy comes in the morning” (Psalm 30:5). The safest solution for victims of sexual abuse within the Catholic Church is to defrock any priest found guilty of sexual misconduct against a child. .....middle of paper ......mild men of God that they recognize themselves to be.
