MethodologyThe aim of this study is to examine the factors that may prevent students from seeking counseling, while gaining an in-depth understanding through subjective experiences on the said study. The five objectives of this chapter are to (1) describe the research methodology used to answer my research question, while outlining the rationale for this choice (2) describe the participants (3) describe the data collection process ( 4) describe the analysis techniques used (5) explore the ethical considerations and issues relating to the reflexivity of the researcher and the rigor of the study.Research MethodologyThe methodology that guided this research study was Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). IPA is a qualitative psychological research approach concerned with the detailed exploration of participants' lived experience, examining how participants make sense of their experience, and the meaning these experiences have for them (Chapman and Smith, 2002; Eatough and Smith, 2008; Qualitative research is concerned with “people's understanding of their world” (Ashworth, 2008, p. 4), that is, how people perceive their experiences and the meaning they attribute to them in their subjective context. Third, my supervisor served as a debriefer, where she reviewed and asked questions about my qualitative study. Conclusion In this chapter, the theoretical and practical aspects of the methodology used in this study have been discussed. The following chapter is dedicated to presenting the results, which will report on the main themes and subthemes that emerged from the data analysis...
