Obama Care is a health law aimed at reforming the healthcare system in America. Its primary goal is to provide more Americans with easy access to quality, affordable healthcare and reduce spending in the United States. Obama Care regulates health insurance, not health care as many people think. This means that it does not replace Medicare or Medicaid; this helps individuals get it at a more affordable price. The Affordable Care Act was signed into law on March 23, 2010 by President Obama and was subsequently upheld on June 28, 2012 by the Supreme Court. Americans who earn less than $94,200 in a family of four or $45,960 as a self-employed individual are eligible to benefit from the reform law. The main reason why individuals are uninsured is the sheer number of job losses. This is because 15% of Americans are uninsured (Obama Care Facts). The main benefit of Obama Care is that it reduces health care costs by ensuring that insurance is affordable for people. It also offers fairer insurance based on the categories you may fall into. For example, you may qualify if you work for a company that provides it, if you can afford to pay for it yourself without any pre-existing conditions, if you are poor and on Medicaid, and if you are over 65 and have Medicare. If you already have health insurance, all insurance plans must provide different services in ten health benefit categories. Health care companies also cannot abandon those who become ill, and parents can enroll their children in the plan until age 26. From my point of view, I think we should have Obama Care in the United States because it is really beneficial for poor families. It will also help reduce the deficit, although it will increase taxes.
