Essay / My Philosophy for Being a Successful Leader - 1242
Leadership is not about having a title, a big position or having followers. Successful leadership is about having the courage to make the right choices, involving others in your vision, and empowering those who follow to make choices for the common good. A great leader will leave an impact on his followers that will last a lifetime. My personal leadership philosophy is shaped by taking into account various factors, the first of which would be self-awareness. A leader must know and understand their core values such as authenticity, passion, service, humor, growth and learning. Successful leaders are authentic and allow their followers to express themselves safely. They make decisions for the common good, communicate expectations, challenge their teams, be accountable, lead by example, reward and provide continuous feedback. I truly believe that successful leadership can be seen through its followers who see and communicate the same vision. Leadership is about being versatile and flexible enough to be both extroverted and introverted when the situation requires it. Leadership is also about influencing others and giving greater meaning to shared values. I lead and perform better when my relationships with people have a high level of openness and trust. A leader must have self-confidence and versatility. I believe that leadership comes from those who are willing to learn, grow and develop, from those who participate in their vision. I also believe that the people I interact with can help me define some of my values. As a leader, we are allowed to lead because those we lead allow us to. Just as we can receive authority in management, we must earn the respect of those we lead. Leaders must possess middle of paper values. Living authentically and with integrity allows the leader to develop their passions, which results in a commitment to hard work and dedication, as well as growth and learning. Meeting the challenges of fully committing to this leadership lifestyle requires a sense of humor and a willingness to realign one's life with one's passions. A leader who stands out will motivate his followers to succeed through their individual and collective efforts. A good leader must be loyal to his team and its activities which will create an atmosphere of confidence with the team. A leader's faith and knowledge in their personal abilities and the world around them will help them inspire themselves and others. As I face my own challenges in becoming a great leader, I hope to become a great leader who leaves a positive imprint on the people I lead..
