INTRODUCTION1.0 IntroductionHere, in the introductory chapter, eight main areas will be introduced. The first section will be a brief explanation of the background of the study, the second section presents the problem statement. The research objectives, research questions, hypotheses, and significance of the study are described in the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth sections. On the left, the seventh section develops the scope of the study and the final section describes the definition of terms and key terms used throughout the thesis in the abstract.1.1 Background of the StudyAgriculture refers to the activities that produce food and feed livestock by humans. There are several functional ways to discover that agriculture is the process of producing food by growing green and increasing livestock. Agriculture still relies largely on traditional methods in some countries. The region depends on agriculture for most of its income. Self and Grabowski (2006) stated that the role of agriculture in the overall process of economic development has been a much-discussed topic. In closed models of economic development, agriculture is seen as providing certain elements necessary for the expansion of the modern industrial sector; food, savings, etc. From an open economy perspective, the role of agriculture is much more ambiguous. In an open environment, many of the necessary elements discussed above can be brought in from outside through foreign investment, imports, etc. The role of agriculture is therefore much more ambiguous. We will argue in this article that the role of agriculture in the economic development process is much more subtle than previously perceived in the literature. Specifically, there is a link between agriculture and institutions... middle of article...... the cultural sector as an independent variable. To analyze the role of agriculture in economic development in Malaysia, this study uses annual data. selected years. This data and information is obtained from Index Mundi, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and other time series and information sources on the Internet.1.8 SummaryIn this chapter, we found that agriculture is the process of food production by cultivating the plantation and raising livestock for consumption. Then different countries like China, Malaysia and Africa have different types of agricultural systems and their sector itself. In Malaysia, examples of agricultural sector that contribute to the economy are palm oil, milled rice, centrifugal sugar and coconut oil. Finally, this contribution will be measured based on GDP and annual data from 1982 to 2011.
