  • Essay / What is formative assessment for the teaching process

    First, the autobiographical lens, which is based on my previous experiences, background, and beliefs about pedagogy that helps students to actively learn the topic “My house”. When I tried this kit virtually with 1st graders at my school last year, it became clear that the students were engaged in the activities that represented their personal experiences as well as the group activities. However, through my study in this unit, I developed a deeper understanding of the importance of technology (ICT) in increasing children's motivation to learn (Gilbert & Hoepper, 2014). As a result, I modified this kit to incorporate different types of early childhood-friendly technology, as shown in the mind map. Marsh & Hart (2011) explained that general ICT capabilities aim to enable students to access, create and communicate information and ideas. In this kit, technology has been used to emphasize learning in humanities and social sciences. From a geographic perspective, ICT allows students to see the world and our space through photos, satellite maps and surface data. It also includes students with historical images so we can go back in time. Regarding civic education and citizenship, ICT develops and facilitates socially responsible relationships between citizens through social actions.
