  • Essay / The True Story Behind Rome: Julius Caesar - 810

Rome, the subject of this report is Rome. Legend (completely invented) has it that Rome was founded by Romulus and Remus, the twin sons of Mars, the god of war. Supposedly a king threw them in a basket, threw them into the Tiber and left them to die by a good old fashioned drowning in the river. Apparently that never happened because they were saved by a she-wolf and raised as one of her own. Eventually, Romulus and Remus decided to freeze this king and overthrow the kingdom he ruled over. Then Romulus killed Remus, named the kingdom Rome, and they lived happily ever after. As engaging as the legend is, the real history of Rome is much more boring. Stick around, friends. Rome started as just another small town among other stupid things around the 8th century BC in Italy, along the Mediterranean Sea. Rome finally got to the point where being a small town was no longer exciting, so they decided to become a gigantic empire around "338 and 290 BC" (www.worldology.com). They achieved this by aggressively establishing themselves around their own region. from Italy. Before becoming an empire, it was a kingdom that lasted from 753 BC to 509 BC. Little is known about Rome as a kingdom, as there is no written record from the time/they didn't save their hard drive. Basically, the kingdom ended when it was overthrown and transformed into a republic. As a republic, Rome only progressed from there. Their army remained unmatched as they conquered many stupid places around "Italy, Spain and England". (www.worldology.com). This love of conquest made Rome one of the most talked about empires of the year. Since this is a report on Rome, it is only natural that I separate each middle of paper..... .tion of Italy.
