Even though she has a husband, she doesn't love him. She flirts with all the barn workers, she told them she was lonely because she needed company and Curley wasn't home most of the time. In this novel, Curley's wife seems to cause trouble for the other guys at the barn because she is always flirting with them and this makes Curley very jealous. When he gets jealous, he gets angry at the other farmers. One day when Curley's wife stopped by Crooks' bunk she found Lennie and she started flirting with him and Crooks wanted her to leave them alone. Curley's wife wasn't afraid of Crooks because he was black and she told him that all she had to do was shout rap music and he would be dead. Later in the book, Lennie was all alone with his deceased puppy when Curley's wife thought it was the perfect time to come talk to him since all the other men were playing house shoes. She persuaded Lennie to talk to her, Lennie didn't want to because George told him not to take him. “George says I must have nothing to do with you – talk to you or nothing” (Steinbeck 43).
