    In the novel 1984, since the beginning of the book, propaganda has been used by the Party to have absolute control over its people. The Party used various techniques to maintain its power. Telescreens, child spies and the thought police. It is important that the Party's first task is to break the people's trust. Their goal is to destroy people's confidence in their common sense, their ability to make their own decisions, and their intelligence. The way they celebrate is through what they call doublethink. This is propaganda suggesting that if people think otherwise, then what the Party says is a crime because it is not the "truth." TV screens are being used to sow fear among the people of Oceania. where you could be more sure that the TV screens were being watched all the time” (107). From this quote you can clearly see that there was no place to hide from the Party. Every time you go there, they have eyes and ears on everything you do or say. This introduced fears into the lives of people who believed that the Party was right and in control. A perfect example of instilling fear in people was when Winston wrote in his diary "Down with Big Brother" (18) and he started to panic because he was afraid that the telescreen saw what he had written . TV screens were also used to broadcast false lies and reports that brainwashed the citizens of Oceania. The Party decides exactly what to say to the public, even if it is not exact. The Ministry of Truth is responsible for publishing and informing the Party. The citizens of Oceania were under the constant influence of propaganda. "And if everyone else accepted the lie imposed by the party - if all the documents told the same story - then the lie would pass... middle of paper... arranged and tortured its victims with their worst fear. Room 101. No one was freed from the Ministry of Love until you believed what the Party wanted you to believe. The Ministry of Abundance is the correct name but only for the Party. the food chain, the less food people received.
