The formation of an organization implies that a leader must assume the role of controlling the activities of the group; the work done by the leader is what we call management. Organization and the definition of managementThe organization is formed by a group of people who work together. It doesn't matter whether the organization is for-profit or non-profit, its trainings aim to achieve a common goal or a variety of goals, which are the desired future outcomes. The results may be producing a series of products or serving a target customer group or meeting the needs of others. Management then is the term describing the work carried out by the manager, which involves planning, organizing, directing and controlling the use of human and other resources, in order to help the organization achieve higher organizational performance. Planning involves defining the organization's goals or targets and designing action plans to achieve the organization's goals. Organizing involves determining what tasks need to be done, distributing tasks among subordinates, controlling budgeting, and dividing tasks among individuals or teams. Leading involves motivating staff to work, maintaining progress of activities and good relationships, and ensuring that work is done effectively and efficiently. Controlling involves measuring job performance, evaluating whether objectives have been achieved, comparing the set objectives and making corrections when necessary. Organizational performance is performance effectiveness and performance efficiency. Performance effectiveness is the measure of achievement of a task or goal, it is the degree to which a goal is achieved. Managers who have chosen the right goals and achieved them can be considered effective performers. Furthermore, performance effectiveness is the measure of resource cost associated with objectives, it is the amount of resources used and resource productivity. The more time and resources are saved to achieve goals, the more efficient the production supervisor. The Study of Management The study of management is the learning of a set of attitudes and beliefs about people, work, action and organization. It may not be the whole of management, but it is the foundation of management.
