We learn about the Holocaust to know what is right and wrong and to remember the people who died. The main reason we hear about the Holocaust is so it doesn't happen again. Hitler was born in Austria, but was a German soldier. He was thrown in prison by the Nazi government for trying to overthrow it. While imprisoned, he wrote a book called “Mein Kampf,” which translates to “my struggle” in English. Shortly after finishing the book, he was released from prison for good behavior. After that, he slowly tried to climb the ranks of government. Hitler became Chancellor of Germany in 1933. Hitler and his right-hand man, Himmler, developed a plan called The Final Solution. The final solution was a plan to eliminate all Jews from Europe. Approximately 6 million Jews were killed and another 5 million people who were on Hitler's undesirable list were also killed. The Nazis had a list of races, people, skin colors, and ethnicities that they considered bad or incapable because of their race, skin. color or ethnicity. They called this list the unwanted list.
