Jeffrey Dahmer was a crazy, bizarre and psychotic person, as many people already know. Dahmer is one of the most notorious serial killers in American history. Not only do Americans recognize the name Jeffrey Dahmer, but everyone around the world recognizes his name as well. Dahmer is said to have had an average childhood. He was born on May 21, 1960, in West Allis, Wisconsin, a suburb of Milwaukee. His parents were Joyce and Lionel Dahmer. Dahmer was a normal child who grew up until he was six years old. At the age of six, he underwent minor surgery to correct a double hernia. Some people believe that because of the operation and the birth of his younger brother, Dahmer became more narrow-minded and began to lack self-confidence. To make matters worse, his father's job prompted his family to move from Iowa to Ohio. Initially, everything started to change at the age of ten, when his parents began to notice that Dahmer was starting to distance himself from people and keep himself more apart. When other children were outside playing basketball, baseball, or physical sports that normal children participated in, Jeffrey stayed alone. Rather than getting involved with other children, he enjoyed playing with dead animals and using chemicals to watch the animals dissolve and decompose. When he was fifteen, one of his friends told him he would look for dead animals and collect the bodies in black trash bags for his own private cemetery. Additionally, “he stripped the flesh from the bodies of these putrescent road victims and even mounted a dog's head on a stake” (Bardsley).
