American football has really grown in recent years, not only from a fan perspective, but also from a player and official leaders. Safety is the most important topic discussed in any sport, but it is essential in football, especially because of the way the game is played with all the tackling and hits. It's really important not only that the players are safe, but also that the officials ensure that safety. Players and officials play a key role in making football safe and interesting to watch for fans, as well as a great experience for players. As noted in the Denver Post, players are supposed to play by the rules...coaches are supposed to teach...and game officials must insist on the rules. Football, in the NFL, is safer than it has ever been because of the rules, penalties and equipment. Firstly, the rules enforced are a great way to make the game safe for players. There are rules like not being allowed to approach certain manners. For example, if you attack someone from behind by pulling them, this is considered an illegal tackle. It is also said to be illegal for someone to put on another person's mask during a tackle. There are many other rules that are enforced in the game. Another rule is: head to head is not allowed. Basically, you can't attack someone by contacting your helmet with the opposing player. This rule makes it very safe because it reduces the number of head and neck injuries. The head is the key part of the human body.
