Currently, Dove offers optional self-esteem programs for girls in grades 7-8. But in reality, are these really effective ways to teach girls how they should see themselves? And what about boys who also have self-esteem and body image issues: where can they get help? These boys are often told to act masculine, as if they are not allowed to show feelings about their body image. Not to mention, is it really effective if it's optional?
