For example, my favorite holiday, Cinco de Mayo, we start the day by gathering everyone at my house and having brunch together (this meal usually consists of tamales and 'a hot, sweet drink). Then we attend a local morning party. The one I like the most is the one set in south Modesto. These festivals take place on a large and popular street. The street is closed and the parade becomes very flamboyant, showing Mexican culture. They design floats made up of Mexican businesses like boutiques, auto shops and restaurants; they also include local activities like karate, Zumba and clubs. At the end of the parade, everyone gathers around the parking lots and visits each other to the sound of loud music. My family usually returns to my house to continue our party. We marinate the meat to grill it outside. When we barbecue, we prepare beef, chicken and homemade salsas. We try to add as much flavor with the garlic and peppers. The night ends when everyone gets a fluffy marshmallow and melts it with the last flames from the grill.
