To suggest that design, by definition, is simply the practice of creating something, whether physical or otherwise, would be to ignore the most important element of the process. It would be foolish, however, to suggest that a single designer would be competent enough to consider the needs of each individual and demonstrate empathy to an extent that would enable them to produce an exemplary design solution to the problem at hand. For this reason, a strong emphasis should be placed on both the practice of working within a multidisciplinary team and exploring the problem through the application of user-centered design.
