This essay will discuss the pros and cons of gun control. Some US states have already passed some of these gun control laws. I will talk about the Second Amendment, public safety, home safety, and gun control laws that actually control guns. I hope that after reading this you will be more educated and can choose sides in the gun control debate. So read on and find out more about the gun control laws that the federal government and some state governments want to impose on American citizens. Firearms are classified into three main types: handguns, rifles and shotguns. Both rifles and shotguns are considered “long guns.” A semi-automatic weapon fires a bullet each time the user pulls the trigger, it will also eject the empty cartridge after it is fired and automatically load another bullet into the weapon. An automatic pistol will fire multiple rounds as long as you hold the trigger. Gun control has been a subject of government legislation for years, although recently gun control has been pushed harder than ever. The major incident that started all the commotion was the Sandy Hook school shooting, in which they blamed guns on a troubled young man who killed six adults and twenty children.
