  • Essay / Personal Statement: A Career for a Career in Pharmacy

This sets me apart from all my classmates. As a rising junior in high school, I began to take on more and more leadership roles. Going to college definitely opened more doors for my potential career. The summer after my freshman year of college, I had the opportunity to work as a pharmacy assistant at New York Methodist Hospital. Exposed to both pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, I was able to gain invaluable first-hand experience and knowledge of medications and policies. My primary role at the pharmacy was to fill medications under the supervision of pharmacy technicians and refill code trays while simultaneously checking for expired medications. These skills impacted attitudes toward academia, as I learned the importance of detail and triple-checking. Because as healthcare professionals, individuals put their lives in your hands, and this responsibility should not be taken lightly. These skills that I have acquired not only allow me to excel in my career goals but also in my personal goals.
