    The subjects in which I excel are mathematics and science. Since I was a teenager, I have always had a keen eye for numbers. It definitely helped a lot with the variety of science classes that use math skills. But science is without a doubt the subject in which I excel the most, and I owe that to my extraordinary great-grandmother. Around the age of eight, I discovered that my great-grandmother was suffering from cancer which was causing her health to gradually decline. Eventually, the cancer spread to her legs and within a year, she became a double amputee. Being so close to my great-grandmother, this hit me hard, but I didn't feel any sorrow because I knew she was a strong woman and, being naive at that age, I didn't think that this event had really changed her. She was still the same loving, caring, nurturing great-grandmother I had known my entire life. It wasn't until one day, while I was spending the night at my great-grandmother's house, that I heard something out of the ordinary. I heard my great-grandmother moaning. It was unusual because I had never heard the sound of pain...
