I think it is an extremely complicated method to blame the media for all violence. The person who commits acts of violence chooses to commit those acts. The acceptability of the act of violence is altered by the influence and reach of the media in matters of violence. Each media outlet only gives a glimpse of the magnitude of violence that would be caused by the media in today's world. I'm not an extremist one way or the other, but I do believe some of the research that has been done on media and violence. I think there is little objectivity or reason not to commit violent acts, when violence is normal for a person. The media is everywhere and I think yes, the media has an effect on violence and "contributes to it", but I don't think they can be blamed for it.
