Oprah Winfrey is an inspiration to many people around the world. Until the age of 14, she did not have a very good family life. She was abused as a child and didn't see her mother very often because she was a housekeeper who left almost every day. Vernon Winfrey, Oprah's father, did a great service in her life when it came to guarding her in a non-violent manner. Oprah also had her career on her side when she became Miss Black Tennessee at age 17. When Oprah became Miss Black Tennessee, she was offered a job in broadcasting and a full scholarship to Tennessee. Oprah has had quite a few talk shows, but she made the most money with her own show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, and now has her individual network called The Oprah Winfrey Network. Oprah Winfrey's influential style has had a huge impact on those who followed her into the entertainment industry. Oprah Winfrey had a very difficult youth until Vernon Winfrey took her into good hands. She lived in Kosciusko, Missippi for the first 6 years of her life, then she moved to Milwaukee to live with her mother who was a housekeeper. When Oprah lived with her mother, she was sexually assaulted during the day, while her mother worked long days. This abuse lasted every day for 4 years until she found herself alone at 14 years old. Oprah had given birth to a baby, who died suddenly during infancy.
