I had never recognized a personal bias of mine; however, I'm sure it's been with me since before I entered this program. My personal bias is against drug addict caregivers. I have long subconsciously felt that victims of drug addiction are the cause of their own misfortune by being unable to stop abusing a narcotic. Additionally, deeper than that, I feel like their inability to take control of their addiction, even after seeing the effects it has on their family and friends, is a sign of selfishness and egocentrism.
