Teaching PhilosophyTeachers are the sculptors of each child's future. No other job offers the satisfaction of knowing you've made at least the slightest difference in a child's life. The little things you say and do will always be remembered. Not only will you be a teacher, but you will also play the role of a friend, mentor, hero and many more. As a teacher, I intend to lead my classroom with rules and consequences, but my students will realize that they are being treated fairly. They will have a voice and say so about what happens in the classroom. Seating arrangements will depend on the educational activities in class. There will be a lot of group activities, as most kindergartners are not used to being around children their own age. The room will be bright and very colorful to keep their senses alert. My bulletin boards will display the calendar, colors, numbers and alphabet. They will include people from all cultures. I will have learning centers around the room where students can go during their free time. These centers will teach students how to tie their shoes, button their clothes, cut out shapes, color in lines and other additional skills. My class will be managed in a democratic way, which is pragmatic. Students will have a lot of say about the rules and how the class is run. It will be child-centered since the students will be the most important part of the class. They will have a voice and say so about what happens in the classroom. These are examples of how I will use existentialist philosophy. I will be a guide in my students' learning process. I would establish a non-authoritarian class. I want my students to see me as their instructor, not their boss or an authority figure. I will lead a classroom facilitating circle seating arrangements, student-centered activities, problem solving, and reciprocal teaching. I feel like I'm a pragmatist and will use theory or progressivism to lead my class..
