  • Essay / Psychology: Psychology and Everyday Life - 840

Psychology in Everyday LifeI never noticed how much psychology could be incorporated into everyday life. But in reality, any decision or action you take is linked to it. I've personally been extremely interested in social psychology: why people do things because of social norms, what people do to appear socially acceptable, etc. Other topics that I also find interesting are sensation and perception; how past experiences can influence the way you perceive things around you, states of consciousness; how things that happened in your day can be transformed into a mixture of events in your dreams, motivation and emotions; what pushes a person to do something or what pushes them to start or stop procrastination, and finally: personality; what characteristics and traits stand out most in a person, what makes a person who they are. I believe everyone sees the world differently. What one person calls the color "red" may be completely different from what another person sees. And since everyone sees the world differently, my worst day cannot be considered the “worst day” in the eyes of others. They could see that I was going through a difficult time but didn't realize what I was really going through. Personally, I get upset about little things because it disrupts my “daily routine.” One day I lost my pencil, the only one I use every day. I felt like it was all over. I didn't like the idea of having to change pencils and get used to it. It's strange of me, I know, but that's how I work. My friends noticed that I started writing more slowly and was constantly stopping to think and question the comfort of using a different pencil. Of course they found it strange, but they didn't say anything about it. I keep a dream journal. I wake up in the morning...... middle of paper ......rait. But I want to know how others perceive me. It's just curiosity and I want to know how different I see myself from how they see me. The choices a person makes: whether or not to follow the status quo, following what is “socially acceptable,” etc. can determine a person's entire personality. future. I find it interesting how social norms change a person and how they feel. Popular trends can lead to exclusion if a person chooses not to follow them, putting pressure on them. I have always been interested in social psychology because it can be applied in everyday life and lead a person to success. Knowing psychology can help you in your everyday life. I believe you are able to apply it to many situations and get the most out of it. I'm really looking forward to expanding my knowledge on many of these topics in psychology, especially social psychology..
