Essay / Reflection on The Great Gatsby - 1811
Nick and Gatsby go to the city one day and there Nick meets Meyer Wolfshiem, one of Gatsby's associates and Gatsby's connection to organized crime. The same day, while having tea with Jordan Baker, Nick learns the astonishing story that Gatsby told him the night of his party. Gatsby, it seems, is in love with Daisy Buchanan. They met years earlier, while he was in the army, but could not be together because he did not yet have the means to support himself. In the years that followed, Gatsby made his fortune, all in an attempt to win Daisy back. He bought her house to be across the Sound and threw elaborate parties in the hopes that she would notice him. It is time for Gatsby to meet Daisy, face to face, and so, through Jordan Baker, Gatsby asks Nick to invite Daisy to his little house where Gatsby will introduce himself.
