    Even after declaring slavery illegal, Jim Crowe's laws restricted the freedoms of anyone who was not white. America kept the Japanese in concentration camps under the pretense that they posed a threat to their security and freedom. It was easy to justify taking away someone else's freedom by making sure America knew it was attacking ours. America, a nation built on immigration, was also plagued by some of the most racist and unjust immigration laws. Freedom may be guaranteed in America, but that doesn't mean it isn't.
