    “The Picture of Dorian Gray” is considered the most important work of Oscar Wilde, a greatest English literary writer of the 19th century. Wilde's style is typical of the gospel of "art for art's sake", which is also why fans of Gothic literature would find this novel absolutely appealing. The novel was written in 1891 and chronicles the life of a young man, Dorian Gray, or to be more exact, his spiritual life.
