Handover Management in NGNAbstract— Network users' demands for better, faster, and secure services continue to increase. The field of mobile networks is the most dynamic in the world of networks. Handover management in next-generation networks has been a topic of interest for many researchers in the modern era. Handoff plays a vital role in NGN networks by providing lossless connectivity from one network to another. Different algorithms and techniques are used for seamless transfer and to optimize transfer delay and data loss. Contemporary literature reveals that next-generation mobile networks consist of heterogeneous wireless networks, namely WLAN, 3G and CDMA, etc. After transferring from one network to another, MH uses the resources of the visited network. During handover, MH must support different radio access technologies. In this article, different areas of handover management are explored with emphasis on different algorithms, techniques, protocols and some proposed models. This summary work serves as a learning guide for the academic world in the field of networks.
