Essay / A Life-Changing Journey - 1043
What kind of person does it take to risk everything they have and take a risk that could change their life forever? This would be an opportunity that could affect him physically, mentally and financially. Most people would rather keep what they had and worked for than risk it all. In The Bean Trees, by Barbara Kingsolver, Taylor Greer embarks on a journey to escape the small-town Kentucky life she has always known. She drives west, not knowing where she is going, but that she must escape. Throughout Taylor's journey, Kingsolver showed how Taylor changed, grew, and blossomed both physically and mentally over time. Taylor's physical and mental journey began before she even left Kentucky. One trait that remained with Taylor from the beginning to the end of her journey was her independence. First, she grew up without a father, which forced her mother to work more to have enough money to support herself and her daughter. Although she missed time with her mother, the relationship was one of the strongest ever. After Taylor's teacher advertised the position at the hospital, Taylor was convinced she already wasn't going to get it. Therefore, her mother told her that she could do it and that she was better than all the "candy-striper" girls that Taylor thought would get the job. The only people they had were each other, so their focus on their family was more focused on each other, rather than a family of eight, which has eight people to focus on and pay attention to. Taylor knew she didn't want to live the same life as her mother, so she got a job at a local hospital to earn money. From the beginning of Taylor's journey, she learned how to make things happen. Taylor had a very... middle of paper ... as a girl. This shows how focused and focused Taylor was on the task at hand. In conclusion, the risks Taylor took ultimately paid off. Taylor's risk did not include any work, large sums of money or sentimental items. What she had to risk was her relationship with her mother who raised her from a young age. Taylor thrived as a person and thrived mentally and physically. During his journey, it took time for him to blossom and develop in an unconventional situation. Who knew someone could change so much in such a short time? It doesn't matter how long it took Taylor to change as a person, as long as her life and the lives of the people around her changed. When traveling, our outlook changes, things that we don't see in everyday life, or that we don't take the time to see, suddenly become something we would notice..
