When we think of famous tap dancers, one of the first artists that comes to mind is often Fred Astaire. He is one of the most famous tap dancers, performers, choreographer, singer, actor and musician of his time. He will forever be remembered in the industry and his films will also be written in history. Fred Astaire was born on May 10, 1899, in Omaha, Nebraska, where he began performing as a child with his older sister Adele. They initially toured in vaudeville, but later, in 1917, they both went to Broadway. Fred directed many productions with his sister, but one that stands out is the 1927 production of Funny Face. Astaire, however, struggled to get his career off the ground and during one of his first screen tests he did not 'failed to attract any attention and the studio manager wrote: "Can't sing. Can't act. Slightly bald. Can dance a little." In 1932, his sister met a man and married, which removed her from their brother-sister relationship. This is exactly what pushed him to go to Hollywood and get into the film industry where he started his career and got many exciting new opportunities.. ...
