Essay / Analysis of Jihad Vs. by Benjamin R. Barber. Mcworld
McWorld is evoked by the four imperatives that compose it (Barber, 1992, page 2). These imperatives are the market, resources, information technologies and ecology. The market imperative refers to the global need for a free market, but the downside is that it requires a common language and currency (Barber, 1992, page 3). The euro could be a failed demonstration of this, but they do not share a common language. If the world were to have a single currency, it would have to agree on the language to use, and although most industrialized countries use English, it is not the same for peripheral states.
