Global Marine Systems is a course in which I was able to take advantage of the unique topics offered at Otago. It would also fuel my interest in the environment and help me make connections between marine and terrestrial elements. Aside from the academics that the University of Otago has to offer, there are a multitude of student clubs and organizations that would give me the opportunity to get involved on campus and meet other students with similar interests to mine . Although not located right next to the mountains, the Otago Snow Sports Club would provide me with the opportunity to take regular trips to the mountains and ski alongside my peers. Another topic I would like to get involved in is animal rights. With groups such as the Otago Student Animal Legal Defense Fund and the Veganism and Animal Rights Society, I would have countless opportunities to work with other students to promote animal welfare and be part of a cause which I firmly believe. The University of Otago has to offer, I believe this program meets both my academic and personal interests. Having the opportunity to develop my personal and professional skills in an international context will teach me new ways of approaching issues related to my studies and the real world..
