  • Essay / The evolution of computers: the Macbook Air and the...

Technology has evolved considerably over the centuries. Machines help man to facilitate his work, to fight in wars, to travel, to heal himself and in different aspects of life. Telling time, tracking friends, finding information and more has never been easier with the creation of the computer. The computer has evolved over the decades, becoming a need for many people. Students used computers, laptops and tablets to help them with their studies. Having such technology seems to be de rigeur in recent years. The Macbook Air and Ultrabooks are one of the new laptops of 2013. The former was first introduced on January 15, 2008, while the latter was introduced in October 2011. Design-wise, the Macbook Air has stayed true to its usual design with a silver aluminum body. The keyboards are chiclet style, which uses keys shaped like small squares. The touchpad responds smoothly to all swipes, taps and gestures. On the other hand, the Ultrabook designs are quite similar to the Macbook Air with keyboards and such; However, the Ultrabooks' trackpad is not as sensitive as the Macbook's clickpad. The Ultrabook's screen has a resolution of 1920 x 1080, which is clearer than the Macbook's 1440 x 900. Ultrabook touchscreen laptops are now up to date with any mobile device. The Ultrabook's operating system, which is that of the Windows 8 version, has its advantages. The greatest advantage of Windows is that it provides ready-to-use solutions that can be implemented by virtually anyone who has ever used a computer (Jennings). Moving from Windows 7 to Windows 8 causes a change in where the Start screen displays programs in different sized tiles. The tiles will make it easier for the user to access programs by giving paper in the middle, which could slow down the processor. The Macbook truly has great battery life, but if the user were to damage the battery, it might not be easy to replace. Technology will continue to advance with each passing day. There is no other way to end technology, because man will always find the easy way out. Technology means change, but people don't like change. Both the Macbook Air and Ultrabook have many differences, but bring out the best in each other. From speculation, it seems that business people would opt for the Ultrabook, as it has its multitasking capability, and Microsoft Offices which seems to benefit more from Windows 8, as well as its ability to read most office documents than the Macbook Air. The Macbook is aimed at CGI artists, designers and editors. However, both would really impact the person's preferences, biases and peer pressure..
