  • Essay / Alex F. Osborn: Brainstorming - 797

Brainstorming originated in 1939, when Alex F. Osborn began developing creative problem-solving methods. While many people have their own ideas about what brainstorming is, from graphs to make a point or writing their thoughts down on a piece of paper and trying to figure them out. After doing my research, I discovered that brainstorming isn't just about the obvious things. Brainstorming is a way of thinking about solutions, ideas, or new ways of expressing something or solving a problem. This can be a difficult process for many people as they may not be able to find a solution because they may be afraid of others' opinions on their solution to solving the problem or simply because the problem may be simply too difficult and there is no solution. to resolve the problem. In 1939, a team led by advertising executive Alex F. Osborn coined the term "brainstorming." In the late 1940s, Alex Osborn was a partner in the BBDO advertising agency, where he decided to write a book in which he shared all his creative secrets. At the time, the advertising agency was known as the most innovative company on Madison Avenue. Born in 1988, Osborn spent much of his career in Buffalo, where he began working in newspapers. There he teamed up with another man named Adman whom he met while volunteering for the United War Work campaign. In his forties, he was one of the industry's grand old men, ready to pass on the lessons he had learned over the years. His book “Your Creative Power” was published in 1948. Description “Your Creative Power” was filled with tips and strategies for inspiring others about writing and how to put your ideas into words. Osborn's most famous idea was the one discussed in chapter 33, "H...... middle of paper ... use of this theory, I don't know if it will be used." Technology is taking over our youth day by day and classroom education is no longer as attractive as it used to be. Teachers do not teach the fundamentals and techniques that the child can learn now so they can apply them to their future. I can only hope that this technique will continue to be taught to our younger generation as it allows people to use all of their creativity and thinking to the best of their abilities, whilst keeping their thoughts in order. Brainstorming may not be used as much in the future because there are many different programs and gadgets that allow a computer or some type of device to think and write for you. I think that's why there are so many new students who can't write today because they don't know how to apply their own thoughts and words on paper..
