Essay / Animal testing should be banned - 1253
Every year in laboratories, hundreds, thousands, millions of animals are used, abused, harassed, diseased and mercilessly killed for the purposes of experimentation. On animals, people called "vivisectors" test loads of products, such as cosmetics, cleaning chemicals, drugs, war supplies, and pesticides on animals. The most commonly used animals are rabbits, guinea pigs and mice, but they also tend to use other animals such as dogs, cats, cattle, pigs, chickens, monkeys, reptiles and many others. Every year, almost four million animals are tested in British laboratories. Every eight seconds, an animal dies. These animals are sentient beings who can experience emotions like fear, frustration, sadness and loneliness. These animals are also forced to live in very small living spaces, such as metal cages, where they do not have the ability to be free, hunt for food, or use their other natural instincts. What gives society the right to inflict viruses, disease, injury, abuse, or, most tragically, death on them? Animal testing is cruel because animals cannot express their opinions, so what gives society the right to endanger their rights, let alone their lives? One of the many effects of animal testing is injuries, illnesses, and contracted viruses. , and the total number of deaths caused. Animals in these laboratories suffer from vomiting, diarrhea, convulsions, internal bleeding and paralysis. “Since death is the required end point, dying animals are not put out of their misery through euthanasia.” (Orlans) This is one of many examples and observations of what happens to these innocent animals on whom testing is harmful. Animals die every day, just to supposedly help the human race. If the animal... middle of paper... is angry, it's deadly, or it just doesn't work. These animals are dying, maimed, diseased, abused and used, virtually for no reason. However, we have the ability to change all of this. Things don't have to be this way anymore, and things don't have to be this way ever again. With great dedication, we can stop this cruel process. With a lot of hard work, dedication and a little love and care for these poor, innocent animals, we can completely wipe out animal testing. We can end the merciless abuse these animals suffer and restore them to their natural rights. We can all work together and rid the world of disgusting and cruel laboratories, so what reason do we have not to? We can replace and abolish medical, chemical, cosmetic and warfare testing on innocent animals, in many ways, so why shouldn't we do it ??
