  • Essay / Obesity in America - 2655

“This may be the first generation where children are dying younger than their parents and this is mainly linked to the problem of obesity” (Judy Davis). Obesity in the United States has been a growing problem in recent years. There have been many different hypotheses as to why this number is increasing so much among Americans. The food people eat and the lack of physical activity have a lot to do with this sharp increase. People don't exercise as much as they used to, and the food around Americans isn't as good as it used to be. More and more eating places are increasing every day and it is not good for the people of the society. Fast food industries are the leading cause of obesity in the United States today. The reasons are that fast food is considered addictive, it is cheap and easy to find anywhere, and the portions are way too big for anyone to eat. Obesity is a huge problem facing America right now and something needs to be done. Fast food places are everywhere these days. The fast food industries have restaurants on every major road, advertise on highways for their place, commercials on television and much more to try to attract as many people as possible. More and more places are being created every day, and it's starting to make these fast food joints the only places people can go. Healthy eating is excluded and replaced by McDonalds, Wendy's and others. “Every day, about a quarter of the American population eats fast food” (Eric Schlosser). One in four Americans eat at fast food restaurants every day. This is an incredibly high number. This shows that many Americans really depend on these places for food. The number shouldn't be that high. These places are not healthy for the body......middle of paper......e and to make sure this doesn't happen too. Fast food industries are one of the main factors that accompany obesity. Fast food is everywhere and it's hard to say no. It's just visible on people's faces when they travel down the street. Fast food is everywhere you turn your head, people can't escape it. So, in today's society, fast food industries are the main cause of increasing obesity rates. This is evident from how addictive the food is and how difficult it is to consume, how cheap and easy it is to obtain, and the fact that the portions are far too large for anyone to eat. . Don't fall for fast food advertising. It looks nice and nice, but it really isn't. Fast food is slowly destroying the bodies of many different people and something needs to be done about it. Obesity is not a problem because it can affect life in many ways..
