Essay / Different Types of Conflict - 674
Conflicts can arise within a group for various reasons. These types of conflicts can be classified into conflict over team member responsibility, conflict over insufficient resources, conflict over interpersonal relationships, and conflict of interest. . In terms of conflicts that exist in our group, the conflict over insufficient resources arose because there was a slight problem on the use of materials in the second set of team building activities. The second game of CA1, as mentioned above, involved 'protecting the balloon from bursting, as we were given different types of materials to design a method to ensure that the balloon would not burst when we released it into the basket containing a needle. With the 10 materials given, we were only allowed to use 5 of the 10 materials given to design our improvised balloon protection strategy. Due to the wide variety of choices, we had to eliminate items deemed unsuitable and were ultimately left with a choice between the 'straw' or the 'cotton patch'. Some members thought the straw could be folded to offer more protection by creating a larger surface area, although a few of us thought the cotton patch would offer more protection by having a thicker layer of cotton that could make the needle difficult. drill. After a series of discussions and trial and error during repetitive testing of the ball to simulate how the ball will fall, the straw proved useful as it was able to act as a counterweight that prevented the ball to “bounce” vigorously after its launch. fall, and also acted as a protective layer against the needle. This discovery is also largely attributed to the understanding that exists among our group members, who were open and receptive...... middle of paper ......m what material will most effectively allow us to release in a balloon without it bursting. We decide the best solution would be to test both materials to see which provides the most protection. Then we also decided to use logical thinking to determine which material would best serve our purpose. After testing and thinking as a team, we decided as a team that the straw would be best for achieving our goal and it paid off as we managed to release the balloon without it bursting. Another example would be when we decide where to meet for this project. As Junkai and I stay in the Sengkang area, it is extremely inconvenient for us to travel to school. Hoi Lok, Xin Yee and Eloy understand this and we decided as a team to meet at Bishan Library as it is closer for both of us. This shows that understanding is the key to understanding the problem.
