In the 1830s and into the early 1970s, many indigenous children were forcibly removed from their families, as European colonization recognized indigenous people as being flora and fauna and considered them to be plant and animal species. be wild. Government authorities claimed legal guardianship of all Aboriginal children and removed approximately one thousand Aboriginal children from their families and placed them with white Australian families or in institutional homes. Where Aboriginal children were often subjected to all forms of abuse on a daily basis whilst being used as servants and simply placed in homes against their will.
