Cyberbullying has become a very serious problem. One of the first cases of cyberbullying to make headlines was that of Megan Meier from Missouri. In late 2006, Megan was 13 and using Myspace. Megan was known for being a shy person, which caused her parents to move her from a public school to a private school. Megan had an on-again, off-again friendship with a girl from the neighborhood. The Drew family lived right next door to the Meier family, but once they moved Megan away from public school, the friendship between daughter Drew and Megan began to fade. The cyberbullying started after the Drew family thought Megan had been gossiping about the Drew girl. The accusation fueled drama that continued on Myspace. Megan started an online friendship with a boy named Josh and Megan and Josh would message each other every day on Myspace forming an online relationship, or so Megan thought. It turned out Josh wasn't a real person and was a ruse to see what Megan would say about the Drew girl and was made up by the girl's mother Drew. The fabricated Josh started accusing Megan of talking bad about her friends. Megan never spoke about her friends, even after being pressed to do so, and an online argument ensued with other girls participating. In the end, Josh told Megan that the world would be better off without her. Megan, thirteen years old
