  • Essay / Analysis of Trayvon Martin vs. George Zimmerman

I will be writing about the Trayvon Martin vs. George Zimmerman case. I will try to prove how George Zimmerman always went about murder and how the jury let this happen. Trayvon Martin was a 17-year-old black man who was shot and killed by George Zimmerman because Zimmerman claimed he was defending himself. A 29 year old, 5'8, 170 pound white man was beaten and threatened by a 5'11, 158 pound, 17 year old boy, it's just extremely hard to believe. George Zimmerman had no right to shoot Trayvon and the fact that Trayvon Martin had no weapons of any kind only made matters worse. All he had was a bag of skittles; an Arizona iced tea and a black hoodie. The points I want to make are how Zimmerman is guilty, how the Department of Criminal Justice didn't do their job in trying to get justice for Trayvon and his family, how the jury didn't do everything as he could to make sure George Zimmerman did it. I can't get away with this terrible crime and how Zimmerman could have been convicted of a hate crime instead of manslaughter or second degree murder. Thousands of black teenagers die each year in gun crimes. Most of the teenagers killed are not even 18 years old. The children and teenagers killed in 2008 and 2009 could fill more than 229 classrooms. Gun homicides are the leading cause of death among African American men. Trayvon Martin is a perfect example of gun homicide killing our black men. Trayvon Martin was a 17-year-old walking home from 711 on a rainy night. As he was walking, he saw George Zimmerman following him and asking where he was going. When Trayvon started running, Zimmerman chased him and shot Trayvon Martin because he thought Trayvon was doing something he wasn't supposed to do. "George Zimm... middle of paper ...... ge Zimmerman did not escape this terrible crime and how Zimmerman could have been convicted of a hate crime instead of manslaughter or 2nd degree murder . It is extremely essential that everyone understands that crimes like this will not stop until they are properly addressed. Zimmerman should not have followed Trayvon after the officer ordered him not to; he disobeyed an officer and should have suffered some sort of consequence for his disobedience. There was no legitimate reason for Zimmerman to pursue Trayvon because he didn't have a gun and was minding his own business. If Zimmerman had stood in his lane and followed the officers' orders, all of this could have been avoided. George Zimmerman is guilty and should be punished for what he did, and the fact that I found all the evidence to prove that he is also proves all my points..
