  • Essay / Transgender and Cisgender Youth Essay - 1031

However, I came across a website titled “National Equality Map | Transgender Law Center” created by Movement Advancement Project and has been updated over the past month (Uniform Resource Locator, http://transgenderlawcenter.org/equalitymap). This website allowed me to view an interactive map of the United States. Above the map, there were four tabs titled: “Overall Policy Count,” “Sexual Orientation,” “Gender Identity,” and “State Data Table.” Each tab reveals the percentages of states with gender identity policies. It also revealed which states do or do not have laws or policies. The source is extremely important because it reveals how most states have negative policies towards transgender people, and it is up to date. I found this source necessary because it really highlights that transgender people are not protected, unlike their cisgender counterparts.
