Essay / Why should we defend the Pledge of Allegiance?
Why should we defend the Pledge of Allegiance? Because of the veterans who died for us? Because they fought for what we call “freedom”? Personally, I don't think this should be a requirement for the school. I've held the Pledge of Allegiance since I was in elementary school and I've never really understood why. Freedom of expression, you say what you want, when you want and how you want. It's your right to get up or not. “People are dying for our country. » “Sign of respect for the country in which we live.” “Be proud to be American.” How can we be proud to be American if all it does is put negative stereotypes in everyone's heads, that's never been what he preaches. Being American is actually embarrassing. Just because I was born here doesn't mean I have undying loyalty to America, being American means nothing to me, to be honest. The Pledge of Allegiance violates the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. I believe that this commitment does not correspond to democracy and freedom, which suggests that oaths of allegiance are characteristics of dictatorial states like Nazi Germany. According to Johnathonocross.com, "It is clearly designed to inspire feelings of devotion to a country that is 'under God.' » (and by including this phrase it also encourages religious belief). Children have little or no understanding of what their country is doing or intends to do, both domestically and internationally. If we cannot feel free from commitment while being atheists or even Muslims, we will not feel free to do anything outside of what most Americans believe to be American. Donald Trump is a perfect example of why the Pledge of Allegiance is not for America. Its website is dictated and very degrading for what it...... middle of paper ......ople that everyone's freedom depends on this state. my child needs to learn the importance of words and the need to ask questions and think to see the ideas behind the words. All of these points are clear examples of why defending the Pledge of Allegiance is just a waste of time. Give respect where respect is due. Personally, I don't believe we should respect a country that doesn't do the same things for us as Americans do. They dishonor other cultures and demean people who don't meet their standards of "America." America is not the same, we have more diversity here and we can only accept it. Torturing people and telling them they're not good enough to live here makes them hate us more and want to kill us. Abolishing the Pledge of Allegiance would be an eye-opener and maybe these American patriots can see it and make a change..
