This invention was a game changer for the Chinese because paper was invented in China around 105 CE. So the Chinese have paper, which now allows people to communicate easily. This caused a change in their culture because through paper they can now transmit culture more easily than before. Before its invention, the writing surfaces used were bones, turtle shells and bamboo strips. But as Chinese civilization began to develop, it became apparent that these writing surfaces would not work because of their bulk and weight. In 105 CE, a man named Cai Lun, during the Eastern Han Dynasty, invented paper from worn fishnet, bark, and cloth. These materials were used because they could be easily found cheaply compared to hemp fiber and silk. Hemp fiber and silk were first used, but then the Chinese realized that this material was used more. That's why they started using the worn mesh, bark and
