Essay / you remember when you heard about a Canadian soldier killed in Afghanistan and the feelings of sadness and sympathy you felt for the soldier's family. Do you think that these 158 soldiers died in order to create a better future for Afghanistan and that the military should still stay there to contribute to "world peace". Well, the fact is that their lives have been ruined. In eleven years, we have not done many positive things on a large scale in Afghanistan. Instead, we lost many Canadian lives and wasted billions of dollars in exchange for very little success. Since we are not having much success, we are simply wasting soldiers in Afghanistan. Mainly because Afghanistan is a country far from desperate. Firstly, Afghanistan is considered a hopeless country because of all the corruption. Afghanistan is ranked the third most corrupt country in the world according to the results of the 2012 Corruption Perceptions Index, just behind North Korea and Somalia. All this corruption is why the country continues to regress, even after the millions of dollars in aid it has received. “Pino Arlacchi said that 70 to 80 percent of the $34 billion in aid intended for Afghanistan since 2002 never reached the Afghan people due to corruption, waste and withholding of funds from donors. » (http://blogs.reuters.com). For the defense of Afghanistan, they justified that most of the money went to the police and the army, but the army, however, is not yet ready to prove that most of the money goes into the pockets of the corrupt. Another thing is that we were in Afghanistan to control opium production to reduce the income of the Taliban, but opium poppy cultivation in Afghanistan reached a...... middle of paper ..... .ings. This just proves that the country is not improving while women's rights are deteriorating, civilian destruction and casualties are not increasing even with the overthrow of Taliban power, and the support of many countries just shows that there is not much hope for Afghanistan. As Canadians, we have done much to maintain peace and create a better future for countries. But Afghanistan is beyond us. How can we help a deeply corrupt country improve? Also, how do you eliminate a group of terrorists dressed in civilian clothes without killing a civilian or losing a soldier? Or build a country constantly bombarded by bombs. Even after ten years of bloodshed, the country continues to regress. So, didn't we just waste the lives of 158 Canadian soldiers? Should we therefore further delay the withdrawal of our military from Afghanistan? ??
