This movie is based on changing the lives of Mexican Americans by taking a stand and challenging authority. Even when the cops were against them all the time and despite the brutal beating they received during one of the outings, they stood their ground. They stuck to their guns and proved their point. The main character was threatened by school administrators, told that if she continued the walkout she would be expelled. While they wanted everyone who was about to graduate to just look the other way, the students risked everything and gave everything to make their voices heard.
